Prendimi l'anima

Italy, France, UK

Synopsis

This film by Roberto Faenza is inspired by the secret exchange of correspondence, discovered only in 1977, between the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, his disciple Carl Gustav Jung and a young patient of Jung. Sabina Spielrein, a Russian girl of Jewish origin, has been the first patient with a diagnosed hysteria to have been treated and cured with the methods of the then new-born science of psychoanalysis. On the background of the fascinating end of nineteen century atmosphere and of the cultural suggestions surrounding the Freudian theories, the film narrates the stormy story of the intense and ambiguous relationship between Sabina and Jung. The psychoanalyst and his patient will soon infringe their respective roles to abandon themselves to a passion erotic and sensuous as well as scandalous and tormented.
