Synopsis

Edi and Jureczek make their living collecting scrap-metal in the streets of the city. They live together in a dilapidated factory. The small amount of money they get is usually spent in a honky-tonk bar. The same place is frequently visited by Edi-like fellows. One of them is killed in the bar’s toilet by two brothers. His debts are the reason of the murder. A few days later a surprising proposal is made to Edi. The brothers want him to teach their seventeen-years old sister "The Princess" who they are looking after since their parents' death. They often lock their “The Princess” at home trying to keep her away from other men.
Why do they choose Edi?
Firstly, because of his unusual passion - he gathers all the books found in the garbage and what’s more - he reads them. Secondly, Edi is so ugly that no one could ever imagine to take liking in him.
One day, during "the lesson" the girl, infuriated by constant watching, insults Edi. He stays calm and - in his naivety - leaves the door's key in her room.
Three months later the brothers find out that their sister is pregnant. The first suspect is a young gypsy deliverer of the booze who had a crush on the girl. The brothers seek revenge. The Princess trying to protect her lover lies to them that Edi is father of her unborn child...
