EFA Honours BABYLON BERLIN
On the occasion of the 32nd European Film Awards on 7 December, the European Film Academy is introducing a new award category – the European Achievement in Fiction Series Award. In its first edition, the award is presented to authors / directors Achim von Borries, Henk Handloegten and Tom Tykwer for BABYLON BERLIN.
Vote for EFA People's Choice Award Opens
Every year, the EFA People’s Choice Award allows film fans across Europe to elect their favourite film. When the European Film Academy invites its members, Europe’s greatest film stars, directors, actors and actresses, to attend the European Film Awards, the People’s Choice Award sheds a spotlight on the people films are made for: the audience. This year’s vote has started – vote now and win the chance to join winners and nominees for the awards ceremony in Berlin!
Winners in the past have included films like AMÉLIE, HASTA LA VISTA, IDA, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and THE KING’S SPEECH. In 2018, the EFA People's Choice Award went to CALL ME BY YOUR NAME by Luca Guadagnino.

12 Documentaries Selected for European Film Awards
It is with great pleasure that the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announce the EFA Documentary Selection, a list of 12 European documentaries recommended for a nomination for this year's European Film Awards. There are 12 European countries represented in this year’s EFA Documentary Selection.
EFA Members will now vote for five documentary nominations. Based on these nominations, the EFA Members will then elect the ‘European Documentary 2019’ which will be announced during the awards ceremony on 7 December in Berlin.
46 Feature Films Selected for the European Film Awards
It is with great pleasure that the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announce the titles of the 46 films on this year’s EFA Feature Film Selection, the list of feature-length fiction films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2019! With 31 European countries represented, the list once again illustrates the great diversity in European cinema.
The films have been selected by a committee consisting of the EFA Board and invited experts Giorgio Gosetti (festival programmer/Italy), Kathrin Kohlstedde (festival programmer/Germany), Paz Lazaro (festival programmer/Spain), Mary Nazari (exhibitor/Russia), Edvinas Pukšta (festival programmer/ Lithuania) and Agathe Valentin (sales agent/France).
In the coming weeks, the over 3,600 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter. The nominations will then be announced on 9 November at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. An 8-member jury will decide on the awards recipients in the categories European Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Hair & Make-up, Original Score, Sound and Visual Effects.
The 32nd European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place on 7 December in Berlin.

European filmmakers launch a manifesto stressing the importance of voting in the upcoming European elections. This manifesto is signed by 500 personalities from the cinema world and was initiated by the French Film Directors' Guild (SRF), the Directors’ Fortnight, the European Film Academy (EFA), the Federation of European Film Directors (FERA) and the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA). New Short Film Selection & Awarding Procedure for the EFAs
For the 2019 and 2020 editions of the European Film Awards, the European Film Academy will welcome new festivals to participate in the EFA Short Film selection and awarding procedure. Joining the network of 15 already existing partner festivals, at each festival an independent jury will choose one short film from its competition as a candidate for the European Film Awards short film category.
