Synopsis

Yusuf, a Syrian refugee boy who lives in an exile in a remote Turkish border town is chosen for his newfound power but he has to experience how to use it, at the cost of his innocence.

Director's Statement

Regardless of political conjuncture and the dominant ethic of the present time, I intend to focus on mankind and its simple but unsolvable eternal questions about death, life, love and existence, which are vastly attractive for me. For THE TRANSLATOR, Charles Baudelaire’s poem “The Albatross” was my main source of inspiration. I see Yusuf as a very beautiful boy vanishing gradually in the middle of the crowd. I wanted to portrait his story in an utter honesty.
