Five Debut Films Nominated For EFA Discovery Award 2012
The European Film Academy has announced this year’s nominations for the EUROPEAN DISCOVERY 2012 - Prix FIPRESCI, an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards to a young and upcoming director for a first full-length feature film.
Winners in the past have included films like LEBANON by Samuel Maoz, HUNGER by Steve McQueen, THE BAND’S VISIT by Eran Kolirin, 13 TZAMETI by Gela Babluani, HUMAN RESSOURCES by Laurent Cantet, THE WAR ZONE by Tim Roth, THE CELEBRATION by Thomas Vinterberg and LA VIE DE JESUS by Bruno Dumont.
The five nominees for 2012 are Hans Mas Matthiesen’s Danish drama TEDDY BEAR about a bodybuilder in search of true love, Rufus Norris’ British teenage drama BROKEN about a young girl whose life changes after witnessing a violent attack, Boudewijn Koole’s EFA Young Audience Award 2012 winner KAUWBOY about the friendship of a young boy and a jackdaw, Angelina Nikinova’s Russian provocative psycho drama TWILIGHT PORTRAIT about a woman dealing with a rape, and Jan Speckenbach’s German apocalytic drama REPORTED MISSING about the mysterious vanishing of young people.

The nominated films will now be made available to all 2,700 members of the European Film Academy. They will vote for the winner who will be announced at the 25th European Film Awards on 1 December in Malta.
