Synopsis

Alex, his wife Vera, their two children, Alex's brother Mark, their friend Robert and a few other friends and acquaintances make up the film's circle of characters. Alex's family lives both in an industrial city as well as in a house in a village where nature still breathes, tearing itself away from civilization's embrace. While Mark left his wife and children long ago, Alex's relationship with his family lacks any warmth. When Vera tells her husband that she is pregnant with her third child, Alex suspects her of being unfaithful. Alex doesn't know that jealousy is only the first and not nearly the ultimate in a chain of ordeals he will go through in order to understand the depth of Vera's fear and despair.
