Synopsis

Jean's three loves: by the river's edge, a teenage girl's secret, the red dress of a dazzlingly beautiful woman, the silences of a chambermaid. As a child he confronts the father of a teenager girl he is smitten by in exchange for the secret she promises to reveal. As an adult he prefers to flee from the beautiful woman who is enamoured of him. As an old man, he musters his remaining strenght in the pursuit of the young woman he did not dare love. Each time, the same fear, the same desire : to take the plunge...
