Rossini oder die mörderische Frage, wer mit wem schlief

Germany

Synopsis

Rossini is the elegant Munich restaurant that serves as the principal hangout for a variety of players directly or indirectly involved in the movie business. It is presided over by an indomitable Italian, Paolo (played by Mario Adorf), and serves as the main stage where each player has his or her moment in the great drama of life. Here, dreams can become nightmares, love can come in many different forms and, while the patrons sometimes get what they need, they do not always get what they want. In the midst of this, a film director is trying to pin down the rights for the Loreley novel from a neurotic and elusive writer, while he searches for the perfect golden girl to embody German womanhood. His producer, meanwhile, is fighting off a trio of bankers who want to cut off his credit. When Snow White, a beautful aspiring actress appears on the scene, she is determined to sleep with whoever it takes to get a role, even if it means losing her girlfriend. Maliciously voyeuristic, Rossini is a satire on Germany's film, media and literary communities.
