Paszport

Hungary

Synopsis

The story begins in the early 1990s in Hungary in the countryside. Jözsi sets out from there to go to the Ukraine to marry and bring home the lahf-Hungarian Elizaveta. They could become each other's passport to a more humane life.
Based on Nelli Litvai's short story, Pöter Gothär's film is about the stages of their life together and about the fact that no such passport exists in reality. Their trist environment, poverty, the shapelessness of life and alcoholism which Jözsi brings into the marriage will mercilessly trample down all emotions, love included. In vain does Elizaveta try to do her utmost to create a home for them, in vain does she give birth to a little girl. This life cannot be fixed and the only hope is for Jelisaweta and her daughter to run for their lives, without any passports. But where to?
