The Show
On the first weekend in December 2012, European filmmakers, EFA Members, guests, nominees and winners gathered in Malta for the 25th European Film Awards. A reception hosted by the MEDIA Desk in Malta, a nominees’ reception and a special screening of Antonioni’s IL DESERTO ROSSO at the St. James Cavalier – Centre for Creativity gave all guests a warm welcome to Malta.
On Saturday, 1 December, preparations were underway all day before arrivals at Valetta’s breath-taking Mediterranean Conference Centre began. Exclusive make-up partner M∙A∙C and exclusive hair styling partner Goldwell made sure all guests looked their best when stepping onto the red carpet and into the flurry of photographers' flashlights and TV cameras.
The 1,100 guests at the 25th European Film Awards Ceremony were once again welcomed by German comedienne Anke Engelke. By now a regular in the European Film Awards, this was the fourth time she lead through the ceremony. Joining her on stage was a series of familiar faces from the world of film who presented the awards in a total of 17 categories - and the band Brikkuni. An uncompromising contemporary Maltese pop band, they added some Maltese flavour to the show.
The script was written by Maria von Heland and Roland Slawik, Maltese architect and designer Carlo Schembri designed the set. The European Film Awards are produced by EFA Director Marion Döring and Jürgen Biesinger (executive producer).
This year's 26th European Film Awards will take place in Berlin on 7 December.
